A risk assessment is a simple and careful examination of what could cause harm to individuals, so that we are able to weigh up whether we have taken enough precautions or should do more to prevent harm.Create New
The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999, places a duty to make a suitable and sufficient assessment of the risks to the health and safety of staff, students and others who may be affected by the University's activities. It does not expect us to eliminate all risk, but requires us to protect people as far as is reasonably practicable.
Staff should have attended Risk Assessment Training before carrying out an assessment, the dates and locations of the next training sessions can be found here. If you require any help or advice with the risk assessment process, please contact the Health, Safety & Wellbeing Team.
